As climate risks grow and conventional approaches fall short, sunlight reflection is gaining attention – yet informed engagement remains limited. SRM360 is driving the conversation forward – with strategic outreach, timely insight, and policy-relevant products that help governments, researchers, media, and civil society understand what’s at stake and make smarter decisions on this emerging issue.

Why Are People Considering SRM?
Emissions reductions aren’t happening fast enough. Carbon removal is struggling to scale. And adaptation offers only limited relief.
That’s why sunlight reflection, often called SRM or solar geoengineering, is entering the conversation – not as a silver bullet, but as an option which might reduce climate risks while decarbonisation ramps up. But without careful scrutiny and governance, it could also deepen global instability and compound the very risks it aims to address.
Yet most people – especially key decision-makers – still don’t understand what SRM is or what’s at stake. Without that knowledge, the debate risks being shaped by misunderstanding, fear, and misrepresentation.
Emissions cuts, carbon removal, and SRM
Emissions cuts and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) tackle the root cause of climate change, and sunlight reflection methods (SRM) could limit warming while they work.

GLOBAL TEMPERATURE INCREASE
No emissions cuts
Temperatures would continue to rise.
Cut emissions
Eliminating CO2 emissions would stop global warming, but not reverse it.

Reflect sunlight
SRM could offset global warming while emissions cuts and CDR work.
Remove carbon
CDR could then slowly lower temperatures.

How We Work
Clear, credible, and well-contextualized information is essential for responsible conversations about solar geoengineering. That’s why we’ve created expert-informed resources tailored to multiple audiences – from newcomers to SRM experts.
By translating complex science into accessible formats – explainer videos, visual data, and real-time news reactions – we demystify SRM and build transparency and trust.
Our offerings include:
- Foundational content: SRM guides, articles, and FAQs that introduce and explain key concepts, in multiple languages.
- Timely insight: News reactions, live discussions, and newsletters that respond to developments as they happen.
- Engaging formats: Graphics, data visualisations, and explainer videos that make abstract ideas tangible.
- Landscape tracking tools: Tools like our SRM funding tracker, researcher database, and outdoor experiments tracker, offering much-needed transparency into who’s doing what – and where.
- Diverse perspectives: Podcasts and opinion pieces that bring in voices from across disciplines, geographies, and sectors.
Together, these tools aren’t just filling an information gap – they’re creating an on-ramp for more informed public discourse and smarter decision-making in a space where both are urgently needed.
A trusted source, an emerging thought leader.
We are already proving ourselves drivers of the SRM conversation.
Leveraging our growing media list – now more than 1,000 strong – we’re rapidly building relationships that position SRM360 as a go-to source for journalists:
- Data from our Funding Tracker was highlighted in The Economist, Bloomberg, Carbon Brief, and other outlets.
- Our Live Discussion on Bans and Moratoria prompted coverage of the topic by E&E News by Politico and Bloomberg.
- The Degrees Initiative invited us to serve as official media partner of the 2025 Degrees Global Forum – the largest SRM conference to date.
- Our team regularly participates in relevant podcasts and media interviews, including a conversation with The Guardian.
Our relationships with the scientific community – the foundation of our work – continue to deepen. We’ve featured more than 60 experts in perspectives, podcasts, and news reactions, highlighting the growing community involved in SRM discussions.
Our strategic partnerships with key policy influencers are expanding. We are currently collaborating with former IPCC Chair Thelma Krug to create materials for Brazilian policymakers and NGOs, including an infographic comparing SRM’s potential risks and benefits to climate change impacts on Brazil’s ecosystems and agriculture.
And our audience is growing steadily, with our newest content types and tools driving the highest engagement. We’re achieving global reach, with website visitors from 122 countries.

Building what matters – for those shaping what’s next.
With your support, we can extend our reach with proven tools and develop strategic, policy-relevant products to meet emerging needs and broaden accessibility – ensuring our platform remains the go-to resource in this fast-evolving field.
Some of our planned offerings include:
- Country and regional primers – tailored analyses highlighting regional risks and priorities to inform context-specific decision-making.
- Sector impact primers – clear, actionable summaries explaining how SRM intersects with key sectors like agriculture, health, and biodiversity.
- Tipping points analysis – research and visualisations that map critical climate thresholds and how they could be affected by SRM, making complex science more understandable and policy-relevant.
- Governance tracking – ongoing monitoring of emerging SRM policy and regulatory frameworks worldwide, supporting transparency and timely insight.
- AI optimisation – advanced digital tools that improve how users discover and engage with our resources.
- Enhanced translation capability – increasing multilingual accessibility to reach diverse communities around the world and promote inclusive dialogue.
By scaling these capabilities, we’ll empower more informed conversations, increase participation, and build stronger trust – fueling a smarter, more equitable discussion around SRM.
