Board of Directors

SRM360 is in the process of becoming a stand-alone non-profit organization and expects to receive its designation as such within the next few months. 

The Board of Directors will have legal and fiduciary responsibility for oversight of SRM360.

SRM360’s Board of Directors draws upon a wealth of experience in academia, media, technology, and climate philanthropy.

Larry Birenbaum spent his career in high-tech, retiring from Cisco Systems as a senior vice president, He is currently a partner at the LAD Climate Fund, which supports a range of non-profit initiatives in research, governance, and advocacy of SRM.

Dakota Gruener designed, led, and built ID2020, which became the leading standards-setting organization for privacy-protecting digital ID, and currently heads Reflective, a philanthropically-funded initiative to accelerate the pace of SAI research and technology development.

Pete Irvine is a co-founder of SRM360 has worked on SRM since 2009, and was a lecturer and podcaster at University College London. He is now Research Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago’s Climate Systems Engineering Initiative.

James Lawler is a co-founder of SRM360 and was the founder of Osmosis Films and Climate Now, a multimedia platform focused on connecting people and ideas to accelerate progress towards a zero-emissions world. He currently leads Anvil Capture Systems, which is developing a direct air mineralisation process for carbon dioxide removal.

Funding

SRM360 does not represent the interests of any government, corporation, or interest group, and does not accept any funding which compromises the independence of the information and analysis it shares.  

SRM360 is supported by the LAD Climate Fund.  

The LAD Climate Fund advocates for objective research in the science and governance of sunlight reflection methods (SRM), as part of a comprehensive climate strategy that includes emissions mitigation, adaptation, and carbon dioxide removal. The fund is led by Andrew Verhalen, Larry Birenbaum, and David Schwartz, former technology entrepreneurs now dedicated to this cause.
