Mariia is an environmental economist and conducts critical analyses of global climate policy that recognize the full universe of instruments available to limit global climate risk, including mitigation, adaptation, solar geoengineering, and carbon dioxide removal. Her published work tackles questions that include the strategic role of solar geoengineering within a climate policy portfolio and the feasibility of achieving a stable international agreement on solar geoengineering. Mariia employes a variety of tools for her research, but largely draws insights from integrated assessment models of climate and economy. 

Mariia holds a PhD in Business, Economics and Social Sciences from the International Max Planck Research School on Earth System Modelling the University of Hamburg (Germany).
