Julia S. Guivant is an environmental sociologist and Full Professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. She coordinates the Research Institute on Risk and Sustainability and is editor-in-chief of Ambiente & Sociedade. She is also a member of the National Institute of Science and Technology for Climate Change and a lead faculty member of the Earth System Governance Project. Her research focuses on the perception, communication, and governance of emerging technological and environmental risks, public engagement, and interdisciplinarity in climate change research. Her current work examines the socio-political challenges of solar geoengineering in Brazil, supported by the Degrees Socio-Political Fund. She also serves as an advisory researcher in the ARIA-funded project Ethics and Governance of Earth Cooling Research: From concepts to implementation.
