African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) at the University of Cape Town
Trisha Patel is a Research Assistant at the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) at the University of Cape Town. Her work focuses on solar radiation modification (SRM) through stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI), exploring its projected impacts on climate extremes, biodiversity, public health, and socio-economic systems in Africa. She is currently developing a sectoral assessment framework to bridge physical climate science with socio-economic realities, helping to understand how SRM-induced changes could affect vulnerable communities. Trisha holds an MSc in Climate Change and Sustainable Development and is committed to fostering inclusive, evidence-based conversations on climate risk and intervention that are context-specific and policy-relevant. She also won the inaugural Saleemul Huq prize for best early career presentation at the Degrees Global Forum.
