With risks from climate change mounting, there is growing interest in sunlight reflection methods (SRM). This primer introduces SRM and explores what it could mean for West Africa.

This primer was made in collaboration with the African Climate Intervention Research Hub (ACIRH).

The primer and supporting briefing materials were shared at a high-level convening, held in Accra on 1 April 2026, organised by the Office of the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability (OMCCS) in partnership with the Degrees Initiative and ACIRH.
